Hypnotherapy: Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses hypnosis to help individuals achieve a state of focused attention, deep relaxation, and heightened suggestibility. During this state of heightened awareness and relaxation, the individual is more open to suggestion, and the therapist can use this heightened suggestibility to help them make positive changes in their thoughts, feelings, or behaviors. One of the key aspects of hypnotherapy is its ability to access and influence the subconscious mind. Over 95% of our thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors are driven by subconscious patterns which are programmed from our earlier memories, emotions, and perceptions. Unless we change this programming, the subconscious will sabotage our best intentions when there is a conflict between the conscious and subconscious mind.

Alfred A. Barrios, Ph.D, wrote an article in the journal “Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice (1970)” entitled “Hypnotherapy: A Reappraisal” in which the following success rates were stated:
Psychoanalysis – 38% success rate after an average of 600 sessions

Cognitive Behavior Therapy – 72% success rate after an average of 22 sessions

Hypnotherapy – 93% success rate after an average of 6 sessions

Myths & Misconceptions About Hypnosis that are not true:

MYTH #1: Hypnotist has power over your minds and can make you do things against your will and without your knowledge   

MYTH #2: You are unconscious during hypnosis.

MYTH #3: Only certain people can be hypnotized.

CBT: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a a widely used and effective form of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. Since our feelings are the products of our thoughts and cannot be changed directly, in order to change unwanted emotions such as anxiety and depression, It is necessary to identify and change the underlying thoughts that cause those emotions. CBT is typically a short-term, goal-oriented therapy that is focused on the present moment. It is structured and collaborative, with the therapist and the individual working together to identify specific goals and develop strategies to achieve them.

The core principles of CBT include:

  1. Identifying Negative Thought Patterns: CBT helps individuals become more aware of their thoughts and beliefs, especially those that are negative or distorted. These thoughts are often referred to as "cognitive distortions" and can contribute to feelings of anxiety, depression, or other emotional difficulties.

  2. Challenging and Changing Thoughts: Once negative thought patterns are identified, CBT helps individuals challenge and change these thoughts. This may involve examining evidence for and against a particular thought, considering alternative explanations, and developing more balanced and realistic thinking patterns.

  3. Changing Behaviors: In addition to changing thought patterns, CBT also focuses on changing behaviors that may contribute to emotional difficulties. This may involve learning new coping skills, practicing relaxation techniques, or gradually facing feared situations (exposure therapy).

  4. Developing Coping Strategies: CBT helps individuals develop coping strategies to deal with current and future challenges. This may include learning how to manage stress, improve communication skills, or build self-esteem.

CBT has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, phobias, PTSD, OCD, and eating disorders. It is often used in combination with other therapies or medications, depending on the individual's needs.
